Pink Zellige and
Terrazzo Bathroom.
Full master bathroom renovation in Toronto combining blush pink glazed zellige tile with terrazzo-look large-format porcelain, a built-in soaker tub with brass-framed pink tile niche, double vanity, and brass fixtures throughout.
About This Project
Most bathroom renovations work within a single tile palette throughout. This one deliberately uses two — and the contrast between them is the whole point. The blush pink glazed zellige covers the entire vanity wall floor to ceiling in a running bond pattern, with its characteristic handmade variation in tone and surface giving the wall a warmth and depth that no large-format tile can replicate. The rest of the bathroom uses a grey terrazzo-look large-format porcelain across the tub surround, shower walls, and floor. The two tiles never fight each other because they are used in entirely separate zones, and the brass hardware running through both areas ties them together.
The Vanity Zone
The double vanity sits against the full-height pink zellige wall, which runs from the floor to the ceiling without interruption. Two rounded brass-framed mirrors sit against it, flanked by brass globe wall sconces. The white vanity cabinetry with crystal knob hardware and a white quartz countertop keeps the zone light and clean, letting the tile wall carry the visual weight. Brass widespread faucets connect the hardware across both sinks. The recessed niche built into the pink tile wall between the mirrors provides shelving without breaking the tile field.
The Tub and Shower Zone
The shower and tub share a continuous terrazzo-look porcelain surface. The built-in soaker tub is set into the terrazzo surround with a vertical pink zellige niche above it, framed in a brass trim insert that echoes the mirrors and sconces on the opposite wall. This single niche carries the pink tile from the vanity wall into the wet zone without overusing it. Brass cross-handle controls and a brass rain head complete the shower. The wood-look plank tile running throughout the main bathroom floor introduces a third texture that grounds the room and prevents the two tile palettes from feeling disconnected.
The shower and tub assembly was fully waterproofed to Wedi Pro certified standard. The homeowners have a written 10-year waterproofing warranty covering all wet areas.
