Chris Tile & Renovations has been completing bathroom and kitchen renovations for homeowners across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area since 2007. The company started with tile installation, and that foundation shows in everything we do. Flat substrates, proper waterproofing, leveling systems on large-format work, careful layout planning before the first tile goes down — these are things that matter and that a lot of renovation contractors skip.

We are Wedi Pro Certified installers, which means our waterproofing in showers and wet areas is trained and certified directly by the manufacturer. We are Renomark Certified through BILD, which means every project comes with a written contract, a clear scope, and the consumer protections that go along with that designation. These aren't things we did once — they reflect how we approach every project.

We work across Toronto, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Oakville, and Burlington. From a condo bathroom in a downtown high-rise to a full master ensuite in an Oakville detached home, the standard of work is the same.

HOW WE WORK

Our Renovation Process

Every project follows the same eight-step process. This isn't a flowchart for a brochure — it's the actual order of how we work, because skipping any step is how renovations go sideways.

Initial Consultation

We visit your home in person to look at the space, understand what you're trying to accomplish, and discuss budget. Renovation work can't be quoted accurately from a photo. Seeing the actual substrate, the existing plumbing, the ceiling height, and the space proportions is how we give you an estimate that reflects real scope — not a number padded with contingency because we couldn't see what we were working with.

The initial consultation is free, no obligation, and usually takes 30 to 60 minutes.

Design and Planning

For clients who want to see the space before committing to a plan, we offer 3D renovation design. We build a model of your space to its actual dimensions, place your selected tile, cabinetry, and fixtures into the design, and render it photorealistically from multiple angles. This is one of the most effective ways to avoid renovation regret — seeing a tile selection at full scale in your actual bathroom is very different from looking at a sample in a showroom.

For clients who have a clear vision and are ready to proceed, we move directly from consultation to material selection and quote.

Material Selection

We help you select tile, countertops, cabinetry, fixtures, and finishes. We advise on what works together visually, what performs well in the specific application (floor tile has different requirements than shower wall tile), and what fits within your budget. We can recommend showrooms, work with materials you've already sourced, or supply through our supplier network.

Material selection is the stage where good advice makes the biggest difference. Choosing a tile that's too slippery for a shower floor, or a countertop that's too porous for daily kitchen use, are mistakes that cost money to fix. We flag these things before they become problems.

Written Quotation

You receive a full written quote with a line-by-line breakdown of scope and cost before any work begins. As a Renomark Certified (BILD Member) contractor, every project is backed by a written contract. This protects both parties and means there are no surprises when the invoice arrives.

We don't do verbal agreements. If the scope changes during the project — which sometimes happens when walls open up and you see what's inside them — we communicate about it and adjust the contract before continuing.

Project Scheduling

We schedule the project start date and walk you through what to expect at each phase — when demolition happens, when waterproofing is applied and cured, when tile goes down, when fixtures are installed. For condo projects, we coordinate with building management on elevator bookings, contractor insurance documentation, and noise restriction hours.

We work on one project at a time. When your project is scheduled, you have our full attention for its duration.

Quality Installation

This is the core of what we do. Wedi Pro Certified waterproofing in all shower and wet areas. Tile leveling systems on all large-format work. Full back-buttering on large-format and stone tiles. Layout planned and dry-laid before the first tile is set. Proper cure times between waterproofing, thin-set, and grout stages — no rushing.

The installation stage is also where problems from previous renovations sometimes surface. We document what we find and communicate it before proceeding.

Follow-Up

We follow up after the renovation to make sure everything is settling well — grout, silicone, fixtures. If anything needs attention, we come back. Most of our new clients come from referrals by previous clients. That doesn't happen if we disappear after the invoice is paid.

You'll have our contact information and we're reachable directly — not through a call centre or a dispatch system. Questions after the renovation are answered by the people who did the work.
